Atlas Animalia - A book of monster variants

Created by Andreas Walters

From the creators of the Baby Bestiary, explore monster variants like you've never seen before! Slated to be an 100-page hardcover book. It currently features 25 unique beasts, exploring three diverse variants of each. Like an extended monster manual lore entry, each page will dive deep into the creature, covering biology, hunting, and mating (perhaps even some rearing tips for the daring beastmaster). In addition, the book examines each creature's unique environmental adaptations as well as local uses for the creature (from legendary myths and traditions that tie into adventure hooks).

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Shoebill Cockatrice
over 6 years ago – Fri, Aug 25, 2017 at 06:24:54 PM

 Hi Everyone,

The cockatrice set is done! I like the whole set but this one is my favorite – the shoebill cockatrice. I think the writers have some fun plans for him too.

Hope you like him!

Much creature filled love,

Sarah

Update time!

We have the completed beast list. Wooo! My plan is to tackle the creatures that we have “one offs” for, so be on the lookout for the Chimera, faerie dragon, hippogriff, unicorn, myconid, dragon turtle, and manticore. I’ll be alternating between creatures that have “more bits” such as chimera and “less bits” such as unicorn. This way, I can keep my speed up so we can get this book out to you.

Thanks for everything!

The Sphinx

 Hi Backers!

I wanted to give you a status update. The Sphinx set will be completed this week. Here's the first one. :)

I love doing these but they do take a bit of extra TLC to be as accurate as possible. I've been researching a lot of great cultures thought and I think you'll like the variants.

****GENCON INFO (from Andreas)****

We are at Gen Con booth or #2668

If backers want to pick up their baby bestiary books they can message us to confirm.

I won't personally be there, but my art will be. :)

Much creature filled love,

Sarah

 Hey, hey, our lovely backers!

Very pleased to tell you that the hippocampi set is DONE!

Just one beast closer to the finish line. :)

I hope you like this lionfish zebra hippocampus. I think one of you suggested him and I have a blast making him. Thanks for that!

The other hippocampi will be shared on social media throughout the week.

Next up: Sphinxes!

So much creature filled love,

Sarah

Phoenix Harpy
over 6 years ago – Thu, Aug 03, 2017 at 08:56:39 PM

Hi Everyone!

Been working on finishing up the harpy set. Thank you for all these amazing suggestions. I'll be working on the hippocampus next.

I researched all the peoples of the lands in which these harpies- watch for the rest on social media- are inspired. Phoenix(Greek), Bird of Paradise (New Guinea), Egyptian Vulture (Egypt), Hummingbird (Mexican).

I did my very best to match skin tones and make sure the clothing and hair is relatively accurate. I took artistic liberties, of course, but I wanted it all to be grounded in reality. I hope you like her. :)

Much creature filled love,

Sarah

Backerkit is ready
over 6 years ago – Tue, Aug 01, 2017 at 06:13:34 PM

Hey Backers!
I apologize for the wait, but things have been crazy busy on this side of the fence. Prepping for Gen Con, getting backer variant submissions, finalizing the beast list, getting artist preferences and so much more. ..

Anyways, I've been really careful about this specific backerkit as we're doing something I've never done before, charge shipping in backerkit.

Few things about Backerkit

  • So first a smoke test will be sent out to about 40 of you, to see if everything is working right, then I will be able to add everyone else in.
  • Statbooks and Tarot decks are split into two entries, Digital only or Print only, I know its kind of cumbersome but with the various options available to backers I really didn't want to create three entries for both of these, so if you want the Print & PDF of the tarot deck, you'd have to buy both entries (which should come out to the same value anyways)
  • The backer level shipping charge will show up in the main 'store' screen, but the addon shipping won't kick in until you get to the shipping screen, not sure why, but thats the way it works, so if you have some excess credits from addons, they are probably meant to contribute to the final shipping.
  • Once you pay in backerkit, it does not charge you right away. It only charges you once I press the 'charge backers button. I plan this will occur at the end August or early Sept.

I hope I made it all make sense, but if not, I am/and will be available to trouble shoot any issues that may arise

And finally some amazing art :D

PS thanks for all the great suggestions that we've been asking for over the last few days (we should be coming out with a finalized beast list soon)
