Atlas Animalia - A book of monster variants

Created by Andreas Walters

From the creators of the Baby Bestiary, explore monster variants like you've never seen before! Slated to be an 100-page hardcover book. It currently features 25 unique beasts, exploring three diverse variants of each. Like an extended monster manual lore entry, each page will dive deep into the creature, covering biology, hunting, and mating (perhaps even some rearing tips for the daring beastmaster). In addition, the book examines each creature's unique environmental adaptations as well as local uses for the creature (from legendary myths and traditions that tie into adventure hooks).

Hey Backers!!

Just a brief update here, Backerkit (our pledge manager) is awaiting approvals so we'll be opening it up for preorders soon.
I'm going to hold off on getting you guys into backerkit until I''m certain I have the shipping system worked out. (currently i think the best way to implement it is in surveys, but that would mean i have to wait until the shipping information is figured out prior to you guys doing the surveys, still figuring it out though).

Last stretch goal voting results

Thank you all for participating in the final votes, it's bee a surprise to see which beasts rose to the top!

(Weirdly Late) We made it!! (and voting update)
almost 7 years ago – Tue, Jul 11, 2017 at 07:32:17 PM

Wow, I swear I published this update over the weekend, but I guess with the bad service it never published.  To this I am terribly sorry, I had intended the update to go out the night of fully funding.

Since the update didn't go out, I am going to delay the voting deadline to Friday. If you have not voted do so here (also note hippogriff is not on the vote list as it's already in the book)

I have also reached out to our Elder Druid backers to start getting their beast variant submissions.

The original update is as below

We made it!!!

41k raised and almost 800 amazing backers we can't thank all of you for your enthusiasm and support.

If you haven't voted for the last two beasts you can do so here (note the hippogriff is already part of the roster and is not supposed to be on the vote list)

If you want to change pledges or do more add-ons as we share progress, have no fear, we will be moving into BackerKit our pledge manager.

Now our work is cut out for us and we'll be sure to keep you in the loop for all the great things that will be created,

If you have any questions, feel free to ask I've been able to respond to a number of them quickly (using my phone)

Thank you everyone!!

Final Hours: Beast Voting & Stretch Goals
almost 7 years ago – Sat, Jul 08, 2017 at 11:34:03 PM

Hey All,
I apologize for the late post, It's inconvenient to have a family vacation on the the weekend your KS ends, especially when service (and wifi) suck and it's 43 Celcius (110 F) outside.
Anyways, the final hours of the Kickstarter are upon us!

A few quick notes:

For some reason, when we did the last addition of beasts, I think the team assumed we got all of the top 5 beasts from the last set (as the Harpy and Cockatrice tied) so what we're going to do is just add the harpy to the list, which means with the newest stretch goal reached the book will have 25 beasts!! (which is actually just like the Baby Bestiary). So the Harpy will be added to the beast list.

Tarot Cards

For those watching the past posts, we are still waiting for the quotes to come in, that said, we will still make a determination when the time comes. That said, there will still be time to add add-ons on Backerkit, or if we do end up providing them we will be able to do refunds or work something out.

Stretch Goals

Next goal is at 42k to add two more beasts (total 27)

and 44k we will expand the Stats list to include a range of variants, at least where applicable. So for example we can do things like, Baby, Alpha, Colossal, perahaps even elemental.

PS - Now I'm going to talk nerdy stuff!
I had a blast researching ancient Egypt for this pretty lady. I didn’t know they wore their hair in braids (in the upper classes) and the “cloth neck thingy” was, in fact, a large beaded necklace. The female head dress was normally a bird but since she was already a bird monster, I went with a cobra to liven things up. Since she’s part Egyptian vulture, I needed to get those head feathers in so I added them to her bangs. Oh! I also found out that Egyptian vultures are migratory and mostly travel through Egypt to feed or nest on either side. To keep the book PG-13, I gave her the long linen dress worn at the time as well. Hope you like her. Cheers!
